Sunset & the Autumn Equinox

At sunset our entire being feels the departure of the sun and responds by trying to turn inward and to prepare for rest. This is a time for relaxing and unwinding from the busy, active part of the day.

A good intention for the evening might be to relax and rest, to do something enjoyable with a special person, to engage in recreational creative activities, or to curl up with a good book. If your day has been sedentary, it might be appropriate to get some physical exercise to work out any stress that may have built up during the day. If you need to spend the evening working or learning your focus may revolve around that. Note that to relax, to rest, to enjoy are ‘doing something’ in spite of our cultural bias that says they are not, but ‘to be relaxed’ is being rather than doing.

The fall, especially the autumn equinox is when this phase of the cycle is strongest.
