Sunrise & the Spring Equinox

At sunrise a surge of energy enters our being, vitalizing and preparing us for the day. If we are living with the natural light cycle instead of an artificial one, morning tends to be our most physically active time.

This is the time to set our intention or focus for the day. Before we do anything else about this, the first step is to Earth ourselves, to connect ourselves to the Source, and to be centered. Then we can develop our intention.

The intention we choose may be a general focus for the entire day or just something for the morning. It should be an active intention—not merely something we want to have happen or a way we want to be, but something we want to do. It may involve other people, but for the moment we are only concerned with our own part in it. The intention should be expressed as an active verb rather than a passive one.

An intention should be toward a clear, single focus and we should work with only one intention at each point in the cycle. The more specific an intention is, the better it seems to work.

There are two ways of formulating an intention or focus:

The first is to simply choose something we know we want to do—or think we ought to do. This is a choice that is made by using reasoning and logic.

The other way is to select an intention on an intuitive level rather than by reasoning. To do this, we simply ask ourself what our primary focus for the day (especially the next few hours) needs to be. Then we allow our minds sift over the answers that come up until a clear focus arises. Again, the intention should be something that you will actively be participating in, not just something you want to happen.

Once a statement of intention has been formulated quite clearly, make an image of the intention as something solid, perhaps as a symbolic or literal object, and image the power of the sun (or perhaps a sunGod) pouring into it, lighting it up, energizing it. Two or three minutes of this is usually enough - perhaps even less time will feel right to you. Then, consciously release the energized intention to be free to work in your life.

This phase of the cycle is strongest during the spring, especially around the vernal equinox.
